U.S. Green Building Council® & LEED®
(Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design)
The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is a Washington, D.C. based 501© (3) nonprofit organization committed to a prosperous and sustainable future for our nations through cost-efficient and energy-saving green buildings. USGBC works toward its mission of market transformation through its LEED green building certification program, robust educational offerings, a nationwide network of chapters and affiliates, the annual Greenbuild International Conference & Expo and advocacy in support of public policy that encourages and enables green buildings and communities.
LEED is an internationally recognized green building certification system, providing third-party verification that a building or communicty was designed and built using strategies aimed at improving performance across all the metrics that matter most: energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emmissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality and stewardship of resources and sensitivity to their impacts.
Developed by the USGBC, LEED provides building owners and operators a concise framework for indentifying and implementing practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions.
